AIDS Center denies report alleging 22% of parturient women in Kyrgyzstan HIV infected

AKIPRESS.COM - The report alleging that 22% of parturient wom?n are HIV infected in Kyrgyzstan is untrue, National AIDS Center reported.
HIV-infection prevalence rate among pregnant women makes 0.03%, AIDS Center Deputy Director Aibek Bekbolotov said.
"This is not even 0.1%," he said.
As of December 1, 2020, Kyrgyzstan has recorded 10,271 HIV cases. They include 9,699 nationals of Kyrgyzstan and 572 foreign nationals.
1,636 HIV cases were registered among pregnant women.
1,249 mothers and newborns received antiretroviral therapy.
