AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan will build a COVID-19 sorting center in Kubodien district of Khatlon region at the medical facility the country is building there.
Construction will be financed by the Uzbek oil and gas company, local media reported with reference to a source in the government of Tajikistan.
The equipment in the sorting center will allow to diagnose coronavirus infection for the shortest period of time and forward patients with COVID-19 to hospitals in the region or in Dushanbe.
Construction of the medical complex was started by Uzbekistan in the second half of 2018. The facility will be ready to admit first patients since spring.
Its construction was one of the projects approved during visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Dushanbe in March 2018.
Uzbekistan dispatched a group of medical workers to Tajikistan in May 2020 to assist the country in its response to COVID-19 pandemic. Uzbekistan also sent several consignments of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan.
Construction of modular hospitals and their equipment in 3 regions of Kyrgyzstan was financed by Uzbekistan earlier.
