AKIPRESS.COM - The Mazhlis elections are held today in Kazakhstan.
Five parties run in the elections, including ruling Nur-Otan party, 2 opposition parties Ak-Jol and People's Party of Kazakhstan, and Adal and Auyl parties.
Prime Minister Askar Mamin and Health Minister Alexey Tsoy have voted in the elections.
This is the 8th parliamentary elections in history of sovereign Kazakhstan. For the first time in 16 years the elections are not early, but regular.
98 members of the lower chamber of the Parliament of Kazakhstan are elected for a 5-year term on party lists. The election threshold is 7%.
