AKIPRESS.COM - The interdepartmental commission set up by the government to evaluate effectiveness of COVID-19 response in Kyrgyzstan and use of humanitarian aid disclosed discrepancies in statistics on COVID-19 fatalities.
Commission member Gulmira Jumalieva said figures on fatalities differ between line government agencies.
Thus, according to E-Health Care Center under the Ministry of Health, 1,476 lethal cases from coronavirus infection were registered as of October 1;
- according to the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Department, the number of deaths made 1,331 as of December 21;
- according to the National Forensic Examination Center, the number of registered deaths from coronavirus infection reached 2,323 as of December 15.
The overall mortalilty rate for 9 months of 2020 is for 4,000 cases higher than in previous years, Gulmira Jumalieva stated.
"We checked other causes of deaths. We found increase in deaths from cardiovascular diseases, respiratory and other diseases. Probably, COVID-19 triggered other conditions that led to death," she suggested.
