AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan had passed through two coronavirus waves, Gulmira Jumalieva, member of the interdepartmental commission set up to evaluate effectiveness of actions of government agencies and local authorities in response to COVID-19 and use of financial and humanitarian aid, said at the presentation of outcomes of their work.
The first wave occurred in mid-July and the second wave was in mid-November 2020. Daily coronavirus cases continue growing, she said.
"The number of coronavirus pneumonia cases is declining however. Probably, this is the result of improvement of laboratory diagnostics, more effective treatment," she suggested.
The next wave may be expected in February-March. This will depend upon numerous factors, she said.
"There are several issues that require solution: the ways to achieve herd immunity and quality of vaccines," she added.
The biggest number of coronavirus vaccines was registered in Bishkek, Chui and Jalal-Abad regions. The least number of case was recorded in Naryn and Talas regions.
The outcomes of work of the interdepartmental commission will be heard at the meeting of the Security Council.
