AKIPRESS.COM - Former Deputy Interior Minister Kursan Asanov has been detained, his lawyer Ikramidin Aitkulov told AKIpress on January 26.
Asanov is suspected of seizure of buildings and structures. "I was not provided full details, but I understood that it's about the building of the Interior Ministry," said the lawyer.
Asanov was taken to the temporary detention facility of the Bishkek police, he said.
After the October 2020 events in Bishkek, Asanov declared himself acting Minister of Internal Affairs to replace the fugitive Kashkar Junushaliev. However, a couple of days later, Asanov left this position and was detained. Later he was released under house arrest.
In 2021, Asanov participated in the presidential election and won 0.49% of the votes.
