Uzbekistan may hold presidential elections in October 2021

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan may hold the presidential elections on the first Sunday of the third decade of October, Yuksalish National Movement said.
This issue is discussed at the meeting of parliamentary factions of political parties in the lower chamber now.
The presidential elections were held on the first Sunday of the third decade of December before.
The proposed bill suggests change of the date of elections to the first Sunday of the third decade of October. If the amendments are approved, the presidential elections planned for 2021 may be held on October 24.
The bill will be discussed at the session of the Legislative Assembly.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in his year-end address the presidential elections will be held in 2021. He underlined the elections should be held on a high level in line with the national legislation and international democratic principles.
According to the article 90 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, the candidate for President should be above 35 years and must have lived 10 years continuously on the territory of Uzbekistan before the day of vote, be fluent in Uzbek language.
