Envoy of Kyrgyzstan, IOM Director General discuss cooperation in migration sphere

AKIPRESS.COM - Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to UN and other international organizations in Geneva Daniyar Mukashev had online talks with Director General of the International Organization for Migration Antonio Vitorino.
Ambassador Mukashev thanked the IOM Director General for assistance provided to Kyrgyzstan in migration sphere.
He said migration issues, ensuring socio-legal support to migrants is among top priorities for the government of Kyrgyzstan.
The Envoy briefed the IOM Director General about ongoing reforms of migration policy, adoption of measures aimed to improve migration situation in the country with the emphasis on reintegration of migrant workers returning to the country, measures for protection of rights and interests of children whose parents are migrant workers.
IOM Director General Antonio Vitorino praised the reforms in Kyrgyzstan aimed to improve migration situation. He said the International Organization for Migration will continue providing multifaceted technical and humanitarian assistance to Kyrgyzstan within the scope of its mandate.
The views were exchanged on issues of bilateral cooperation in migration sphere, current challenges, ways to reduce risks caused by migration processes.
Ambassador Muakshev underlined a key role of the International Organization for Migration in the field of migration and expressed interest in organization of the visit of the IOM Director General to Kyrgyzstan in the near time.
