AKIPRESS.COM - Ukraine has invited Uzbekistan to Crimea Platform Summit, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier he had signed the order on certain measures aimed at "de-occupation and reintegration of Crimea."
Zelensky said the government was tasked to organize and launch Crimea Platform, to adopt measures on development and support of Crimean-Tatar language, culture and protection of rights of Crimean residents.
First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Emine Japarova met with Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Ukraine Alisher Kurmanov on March 3.
"Emine Japarova confirmed that Ukraine would welcome participation of the President of Uzbekistan in celebrations of the 30th anniversary of independence of Ukraine and the Crimea Platform Summit," RIA Novosti cited the Foreign Ministry as saying.
The First Deputy Foreign Minister said Ukraine wants obtain observer status in the Council of Turkic Countries comprised of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
"Obtaining observer status will provide not only additional opportunities for development of relations with the participating countries, but will allow to demonstrate particular ties of Ukraine with the Turkic world," Japarova said.
