AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Head of the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation Keneshbay Tailakov on March 9 during the meeting of the parliament committee explained why there is a difference in the prices of fuel and lubricants in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan covers 75% of its domestic market on its own, it produces oil, he said.
Additionally Kazakhstan introduced a duty in 2019, in 2020 it was canceled and some of Kyrgyz companies started importing fuel and lubricants, but on December 25 they introduced the duty again and every time the price of oil increases, the amount of duty also increases, he explained.
"Their excise tax is lower than ours. All these factors plus convenient transport logistics make their prices lower," explained Tailakov.
