Kyrgyz side ready to open road and air traffic to Uzbek enclave of Sokh located in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan ready to give away Ungar-Too: Spokesperson

AKIPRESS.COM - Parties agreed to complete the delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border within the next three months, Kyrgyz presidential spokesperson Galina Baiterek said Saturday commenting on the results of President Sadyr Japarov's state visit to Uzbekistan. Seven border checkpoints will resume operation soon, and the Uzbek side promised to solve the problem with the cargo flow and provide appropriate equipment for scanning documents if needed, she added.
"The Kyrgyz side is ready to open transport and air traffic to the Uzbek enclave of Sokh located on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Residents of the enclave can move freely across the state border. For its part, the Uzbek side is ready to give Kyrgyzstan the disputed Ungar-Too area which has been up until now a reason for political tension between the residents of the border areas," she said.
The rest of the disputed issues will be addressed by the special commission, which has already met with their Uzbek counterparts, she added.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev confirmed his readiness for serious and full-scale cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, added Ms Baiterek.
