U.S. congratulates Uzbekistan with arrival of Covid-19 vaccines

AKIPRESS.COM - The United States congratulated Uzbekistan on successful delivery of 660,000 doses of vaccine aginst COVID-19, which was made possible due to COVAX Advance Market Commitment.
The international community provides 660,000 doses of vaccine to the government of Uzbekistan. End of pandemic requires a close international cooperation. Virus still threatens to the humankind and the task is that treatment is equally accessible for all countries, not only for the richest. The whole world needs to be vaccinated, U.S. Ambassador Daniel Rosenblum said at the handover ceremony.
The U.S. closely cooperated with Uzbekistan since pandemic outbreak, having provided personal protective gear, testing equipment and reagents, handed over 200 life saving ventilators. The direct assistance of the U.S. to Uzbekistan in response to Covid-19 exceeded $9 million, the U.S. Embassy said.
The first batch of India-made AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Tahskent on March 17 through COVAX program.
