CIS Foreign Ministers adopt joint statement on strengthened role of international law

AKIPRESS.COM - The Foreign Ministers of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan adopted the joint statement on strengthening of the role of international law. The statement says the principle of sovereign equality is one of key factors for ensuring stability of international relations.
The Foreign Ministers found it inadmissible when some states abuse economic pressure measures or compulsion and reiterated importance of principle of non-intervention into internal affairs of sovereign states.
The documents calls for continued joint work on strengthening of the current system of agreements on disarmament, non-proliferation and control over weapons.
Necessity of consolidation of efforts and comprehensive approach to prevention of terrorism and fight against it in line with international law is noted.
The countries express readiness to ramp up mutually beneficial cooperation in human rights protection.
