AKIPRESS.COM - First Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov held a government meeting on environmental safety, the government's press service reported on March 24.
President Japarov signed the order on environmental safety and climate resilience on March 19, First Deputy PM Artem Novikov said.
"The order stipulates mechanisms and principles for improvement of environmental situation, waste recycling, increase of green spaces, addressing uranium legacy issues. Besides, the order requires preparation of comprehensive plans for improvement of environmental situation in all regions of the country. Government agencies need to develop a concrete action plan for implementation of this order, specifying sources of financing and mechanisms of its implementation," Artem Novikov said.
Artem Novikov also reminded about the smog problem in winter time.
"You remember what smog covers Bishkek in winter. Such situation repeats every year and we remember about it only in winter. The action plan of the government on improvement of environmental safety in Bishkek for the next 3 years was approved in January 2021. After additional consultations with public organizations and eco-activists, we agreed to develop the respective action plan and to fulfill a number of key tasks. The plan should be approved by April 1 and its practical implementation should begin," the First Deputy Prime Minister said.
Artem Novikov underlined the landfill in Bishkek should be closed and relocated before September 1, 2021. Its 35 ha area should be reclaimed, the First Deputy Prime Minister stated.
Preparations for making a park and ethno-complex on 60 ha Boz-Boltok area outside Bishkek should begin. The plan also foresees construction of gas supply infrastructure in residential districts, switchover of boiler houses from coal to gas, regulation of construction norms in view of ecological principles.
