Tajik border guards open fire from mortar into Kyrgyz border guards, citizens - Kyrgyz Border Service

AKIPRESS.COM - Another armed conflict occurred today on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan said.
The conflict ocurred between citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan over use of a land plot in Chek area, Batken region. The land plot remains disputed, but was used by the Kyrgyz side in fact.
Around 30-40 citizens from both sides attacked each other with stones as a result of the conflict. The shot from the shotgun was made during the conflict.
Border guards of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan fired several warning shots into the air to prevent further escalation of the conflict.
The conflict was de-escalated for some time. The outreach work was carried out in the border areas of two countries.
"However, Tajik border guards suddenly opened fire from mortar launcher in the direction of Kyrgyz border guards and citizens," the State Border Service said.
The situation remains tense on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
