AKIPRESS.COM - The Interior Ministry of Uzbekistan published a video saying beaten blogger Miraziz Bozorov, who called for decriminalization of consensual same-sex sexual conduct, has to blame himself for being attacked.
According to the official statement of the Interior Ministry, Miraziz Bozorov called for mass demonstrations in front of the Khazrati Imam Mosque in Tashkent with representatives of LGBT community.
The Interior Ministry said Bozorov deliberately ignored the rules of social behavior, spreading video "not typical for Uzbeks and demonstrating his perverse behavior to the public."
"In the result, a group of citizens who found his calls insulting gathered on Amir Temur Prospekt in Tashkent on March 28 in order to express their views about the situation. These people staged mass disorders and put public safety at risk. Police suppressed disorders and detained public order disturbers," the Interior Ministry said.
The Interior Ministry accused Bozorov of "acting with support and assistance of destructive external forces and different malevolent non-governmental organizations, who attempted to popularize homosexuality and similar evil despite they are prohibited by the national legislation, created the atmosphere of protest and intolerance."
The criminal probe was launched against attackers of Japan's anime fans and K-pop fans on March 28 in Tashkent. The attackers took them for gays.
29-year-old Miraziz Bozorov, who planned an event on March 28 in the same place, was beaten by a group of unknown people. He was taken to hospital.
