AKIPRESS.COM - First Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov took part in the opening ceremony of the Asia and Oceania Judo Championships 2021 in Bishkek set for April 6 to 10, said the government. Novikov thanked the International Judo Federation, the Asian Judo Union represented by President Obaid Al-Anzi and the National Judo Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic for the opportunity to host such a high-level sports event.
The Asia and Oceania Judo Championships 2021 is held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time, Novikov said. "This is a significant event for the domestic sport. We hope that the competition will help popularize the sport and we will be able to enjoy victories of our athletes at different international competitions. It is symbolic that such a major international sporting event coincided with the celebration of the Day of Physical Culture and Sports Workers of the Kyrgyz Republic," he said congratulating on this occasion.
Novikov stressed that the International Judo Federation unites about 200 national judo federations.
Obaid Al-Anzi for his part thanked the government of the Kyrgyz Republic for its support and assistance in the organization of the competition.
