AKIPRESS.COM - The 4th meeting of Uzbekistan-UAE Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation has been held on April 7 via videoconference. The Commission is co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.
The meeting was also attended by heads of relevant ministries, agencies, industry associations, investment companies and chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries.
The agenda of the meeting covered a wide range of issues of bilateral investment, trade, economic, financial, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
It was suggested to launch investment projects in agricultural sector.
The possibility of participation of UAE businesses in state privatization program launched in Uzbekistan was discussed.
The parties welcomed creation of Uzbekistan-UAE Business Council, which will advance ties and cooperation between business circles of two countries. The first meeting of the Council is planned for June 2021.
21 bilateral agreements were signed during the event, including the memorandum of cooperation in environmental protection and preservation of biodiversity between the MInistry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of UAE, agreement on establishment of Uzbekistan-UAE Business Council, several agreements on projects in agricultural sector and education, export contracts for supply of textile products, legumes, fresh and dry vegetables and fruits.
