Health Minister Beishenaliev says it's up to Kyrgyzstan whether to register aconite root for Covid-19 treatment or not

AKIPRESS.COM - "Why should we obey them?" Minister of Health and Social Development Alymkadyr Beishenaliev told a press conference in response to statement issued by WHO Country Office concerning aconite root.
"We are independent country. We may register medications made here. Why should we listen them?" the Health Minister said.
Not WHO but each country issues clinical protocols, WHO offers recommendations only, Health Minister Beishenaliev said.
15 protocols were issued in Russia, 5 in Kyrgyzstan, up to 20 protocols were issued in other countries, he said.
"I defended doctor's thesis paper on immunology. We complete protocols every day. More than 300 patients took aconite. As a man of science I should defend on a big number of people how much aconite was used and what changes were registered," the Health Minister said.
"I am in process of clinical trials now. If effectiveness is proved, we will register it," the Health Minister said.
The WHO Country Office said no evidence is available now on safety and effectiveness of aconite root in treatment of COVID-19. Pre-clinical and clinical trials are necessary to obtain such information and for registration.
