AKIPRESS.COM - The Interior Ministry of Russia called upon the CIS countries to take back over 1 million people who stay in Russia illegally.
"If we do not remove them before June 15 as foreseen by the president's executive order, these people will face deportation and closure of borders. I would like you to conduct respective communication work through media, bloggers," Russian Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Gorovoi said at the meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, RIA Novosti reported.
Moratorium on deportation of illegal migrants will remain in effect until mid-June that was imposed due to coronavirus pandemic. Illegal migrants may leave Russia without sanctions before that time.
According to statistics cited by Gorovoi, most illegal migrants come from Uzbekistan - over 332,000. Tajikistan is on the second place with 247,000 migrants. Ukraine is next with 152,000 migrants, Azerbaijan (120,000), Kyrgyzstan (115,000), Armenia (61,000), Moldova (56,000), Kazakhstan (49,000).
