Turkmen President's father dies at age 89

AKIPRESS.COM - Father of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov died at age of 89, the state news agency reported.
The cause of death was not specified.
Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov was born on 12 August 1932. He was retired Lt. Col. of Police.
He retired from police in 1982. He then worked as a teacher, worked int he National Institute of Education, Research Institute of Pedagogical Science, Ashgabat Education Department.
The military unit in Ashgabat was named after Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov in February 2012 based on resolution of the Ashgabat local council.
