AKIPRESS.COM - Education quality dropped after children stopped attending schools due to coronavirus pandemic, MP Shailoobek Atazov (Ata Meken) said in Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on April 21. "I am far from saying the quality of education improved. I will admit it slightly decreased. There are gaps, since students are not next to teachers. We uploaded all materials on online platform. In such cases due to lack of digital skills of students and teachers the process of learning is not on high level," Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nurlan Omurov said.
Schools in Kyrgyzstan switched to online classes since March 2020. First graders started school on September 1, 2020. The rest school students studied online.
Since January 18, 2021, students of grades 1, 5, 9 and 11 resumed offline classes in schools in Bishkek. They were joined by other primary school students then.
When more than 2 coronavirus cases are confirmed among school students or teachers, schools are closed for 14-day quarantine.
