AKIPRESS.COM - The ceremony of handover of 20,000 doses of Russia's Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine was held on April 22 in Bishkek. First Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov, Ambassador of Russia Nikolai Udovichenko, Minister of Health and Social Development Alymkadyr Beishenaliev attended the ceremony.
"The agreement on supply of Sputnik V vaccine was reached on top level during the earlier visit of President Japarov to Russia. A part of vaccines was handed over by the Russian side in form of humanitarian assistance. This is a sign of trust, cooperation, alliance and strategic partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Russia. Kyrgyzstan thanks leadership of Russia for prompt solution of the issue despite a big number of orders for the vaccine globally and ongoing vaccination in Russia," Artem Novikov stated.
Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev expressed hope situation with production of vaccines in Russia will improve by June 2021 and more vaccines will be supplied to Kyrgyzstan as part of strategic partnership and on humanitarian basis.
Ambassador Nikolai Udovichenko said certain time was required to collect the batch of vaccines for supply to Kyrgyzstan.
"I am convinced upon increase in Sputnik V production volumes, the amount of supplies will grow and the country will meet upcoming autumn fully prepared," Ambassador Udovichenko said.
