AKIPRESS.COM - The volume of water in the Toktogul reservoir is critically low, said General Director of the Electric Stations JSC Taalaibek Bektenov. On January 1, 2020, the volume of water was 15 billion cubic meters and 16.8 billion cubic meters a year earlier, he said. As of April 1, 2020, the volume was 12.5 billion cubic meters; as of October 1, 2020, it was 14 billion cubic meters.
On December 1, it dropped to 8.6 billion m3, which is critically low, he said.
"It is below the recommended volume, which should be 9.7 billion. The situation today is the same. The decline in water level in the reservoir is also caused by a decrease in the inflow of the Naryn River. In fact, the inflow in 2019 was 95.6%, and in 2020 - 93.4%," he said.
Electricity generation was 15,181.6 billion kWh, which is higher than last year by 303 million kWh or 2%. Generation is 726 million kWh higher than planned. This is due to a decrease in imports by 447.4 million kWh, and increased consumption by 275.9 million kWh, he said.
The load on the HPPs was also high increasing by 78 million kWh than planned. This is due to increased load on the Bishkek CHPP in winter to provide heating load and water conservation in the Toktogul reservoir. The growth of electricity generation was caused by increased consumption.
