AKIPRESS.COM - Vaccination against coronavirus infection will last throughout a year or slightly more in Kyrgyzstan, First Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov said in Parliament on April 28.
"Kyrgyzstan received 150,000 doses of China's Sinopharm vaccine. The first batch of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine arrived. It is used for vaccination of people with chronic conditions and citizens above 65 years," Artem Novikov said.
40,000 doses of Sputnik V vaccine will arrive in May, he siad.
"The Health Ministry signed a contract with the Russian Direct Investment Fund on supply of 1 million doses of vaccines. Sputnik V vaccines will be supplied depending upon real production possibilities," he added.
Kyrgyzstan is also working with COVAX program on supply of AstraZeneca vaccine that was approved by WHO.
Supplies of Chinese vaccine are expected, Artem Novikov added.
Kyrgyzstan needs around 2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine, he said.
"We plan to vaccinate risk groups until autumn," Novikov concluded.
