AKIPRESS.COM - The agreement was reached on ceasefire since 8.00 p.m. and removal of military forces to their previous duty stations as a result of talks held between the Foreign Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said.
Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev held talks with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Mukhriddin and other officials to discuss further joint actions of the sides aimed at regulation of the border situation.
The sides found it necessary to regulate the border conflict peacefully through talks.
Kyrgyzstan does not lay claims on territory of another country and does not intend to cede its land to anyone. All issues should be solved at the table of negotiations with participation of high-level representatives of both countries in the framework of governmental delegations for delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev said.
Foreign Minister Kazakbaev noted importance of strengthening of trust between two countries, especially in border areas, adoption of measures to ensure safety and stability in the border areas, to foil any actions leading to escalation of tension among local population.
The countries agreed to hold another meeting of heads of law enforcement and security agencies, local authorities in the next few hours in order to discuss further details of regulation of the situation.
The sides agreed to step up outreach work at local community level, to organize joint border patrolling, to maintain direct contacts between the Foreign Ministers for prompt solution of existing issues.
The Foreign Ministers urged both sides to resist provocations of destructive forces.
