AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Health and Social Development confirmed death of 4-year-old Abidin Tursunbaev from Arka village, Leilek district as a result of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border conflict.
The death toll rose to 36.
The boy's aunt told Turmush shooting started at around 7.15 p.m. in their village.
"When the houses were set on fire, people began to run away. My younger sister grabbed her two kids and began to run too. When they reached the Ferghana canal, the shell exploded and Abidin fell into the water. People pulled him out of the canal and took to the hospital. He was not admitted to the hospital in Dostuk village. The road was closed to Kulundu village. My nephew died in the ambulance. My sister had one son and one daughter," the woman said.
Abidin would have turned 5 years on July 1. The family could not bury the boy in his native village due to gunfire. He was buried in Dargaz village.
