AKIPRESS.COM - The Dostuk border outpost of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of Kyrgyzstan burned down as a result of the armed conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
On April 29, the Border Service reported that Tajik troops attacked 5 border outposts in Kyrgyzstan. Earlier that day, an exchange of gunfire began in the Golovnoy water distribution facility between the military units of the sides. Kyrgyz citizens and soldiers were wounded in the exchange of fire. Further at about 5 p.m., the Tajik side opened fire at the Kapchigai, Min Bulak, and Dostuk border outposts, and the Kojogar and Bulak Bashi border guard posts. As a result of the mortar shelling, the building of the Dostuk border guard outpost burned in fire.
In response to the actions of Tajik soldiers, the special-purpose unit Boru of the National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic seized the Khoja A'llo border outpost of Tajikistan. Tajikistan later denied that, but did not comment on attacking 5 posts.
The opening of the Dostuk border outpost took place on January 10, 2019. The construction and equipping of the Dostuk border outpost was carried out in accordance with the agreement between the Kyrgyz and Russian governments on technical assistance to Kyrgyzstan as part of its accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
