President Japarov announces upcoming reforms of armed forces

AKIPRESS.COM - "We will undertake necessary actions for reinforcement of defense capability of the country, prevention and fight against extremism, terrorism and international organized crime. We need serious changes in armed forces," President Sadyr Japarov said in his address to the nation on May 5. Japarov said this can be called reform of armed forces and it will include two main directions.
"We need to organize the army on the principle of special detachments, fully prepared and equipped for mountain warfare," the President said.
"On another hand, we will switch to creation of citizen patrols. This system provides for a high level of mobilization readiness of population living in border areas and allows to concentrate significant forces against military threats and attacks," Japarov stated.
