AKIPRESS.COM - Newly appointed governor of Batken region Abdikarim Alimbaev visited the strategic object, Golovnoy water distributor, located on the Ak-Suu river in Batken district.
Governor visited the village of Kok-Terek, where 17 houses were completely burned down during armed attack on April 29.
He also met with residents of the village of Kok-Tash, pledged them protection of border areas of the region in the first place.
Alimbaev added that the victims will receive all due assistance from the state, all homes and social facilities damaged will be restored.
On April 28, the Tajik side illegally installed video surveillance cameras on the Golovnoy water distributor of Kyrgyzstan, which was opposed by the Kyrgyz side and demanded to remove cameras. A conflict escalated into a gunfire exchange. Over 25 Kyrgyzstanis were found dead near Golovnoy after mortar shelling by Tajik troops of Ak-Sai rural district of the Batken region. A criminal probe was launched into the massacre.
The mortar shelling took place on April 29 killing at least 36 Kyrgyz citizens.
New governor fo Batken region was introduced to the team on May 5 by First Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov.
