AKIPRESS.COM - The government of Kyrgyzstan has publicized the joint statement of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border.
The meeting of the governmental delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border led by State National Security Committee Chairman Kamchibek Tashiev and Tajikistan State National Security Committee Chairman Saimumin Yatimov was held on May 1 in Batken.
The sides agreed to withdraw troops and military machinery from the border to their duty stations until May 2.
The constructive exchange of views on delimitation and demarcation of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border was held during the meeting.
The topographic working groups were tasked to start delimitation of the state border on the remaining border sections in the nearest time.
The sides agreed to use the documents and materials of territorial division of 1924-1927 and parity commission of 1989 for delimitation of the border.
The topographic working groups were instructed to delimit the Kyrgyz-Tajik border from border points 43 to 61 and border points 135 and 141 from May 5 to May 9.
The sides will begin topographic work and delimitation of Kyrgyz-Tajik border in Maksat, Kulundu villages of Leilek district of Kyrgyzstan, Kok-Tash, Kok-Terek, Ak-Sai villages of Batken district of Kyrgyzstan, in Ovchi Kalacha of Babajan Gafurov district, Chorkuh, Somoniyon, Hojai A'lo of Isfara of Sughd region of Tajikistan before May 17.
The parties agreed before completion of delimitation, demarcation and formalization of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border to build together Hojai A'lo-Vorukh road, which will be used and maintained by Tajikistan. The status of this road will be defined by the bilateral agreement.
The sides reached agreement on construction of this road and tasked topographic working groups together with designing institutions to conduct field survey of the site in Batken district before June 1, 2021.
The parties agreed to start delimitation of the border in Vorukh upon completion of construction of Hojai A'lo-Vorukh road.
The countries affirmed their commitment to address all border issues in the spirit of mutual understanding and mutual trust.
The agreement was reached the next meeting on border issues will be held in Tajikistan.
