State of emergency declared in Bazar-Korgon due to flooding threat

AKIPRESS.COM - The state of emergency was declared in Bazar-Korgon village in Jalal-Abad region due to flooding threat, said the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The decision was made by the head of the village council on May 6.
On May 5 at about 10:00 a.m. the water level in the river Kara-Unkur in the village of Karacha rose sharply posing a threat of flooding to the residents of houses located on the left and right banks. The Jalal-Abad region department of emergency allocated 400 liters of fuel and lubricants and 1 excavator.
On May 6, works on changing the river bed were carried out with the help of the equipment and relevant works are under way on May 7.
Locals authorities are working, 3 excavators, 30 dump trucks and 3 loaders are mobilized.
On May 6, 30 meters barriers were installed for strengthening of the riverbed.
