AKIPRESS.COM - Citizens who were evacuated from the Kyrgyz-Tajik conflict zones in Batken region returned home, the press service of the government in the Batken region said.
Their transportation was organized by authorities.
Governor Abdikarim Alimbaev met with the internally displaced residents who were accommodated in 9 locations. He informed that law enforcement officers were on heightened operation mode in the border areas. These measures were taken in order to ensure safety of residents. Temporary homes were built for citizens whose homes were damaged during the conflict.
Work has already begun to restore the villages. The first task will be to provide citizens with housing, Alimbaev said.
40,649 people were internally displaced during the conflict, including 16,147 women and 23,931 children.
14 361 people were evacuated in Batken district and 26 288 people in Leilek district.
