Around 1000 prisoners pardoned in Turkmenistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Around a thousand convicts were pardoned in Turkmenistan.
Amnesty was applied towrds those who refused to serve in army for religious reasons.
1,035 convicts were released from prisons in connection with the Night of Power, including 982 nationals of Turkmenistan and 53 foreigners, state news agencies reported.
Turkmenistan does not offer alternative service for cirizens refusing to serve in army due to religious beliefs. The Criminal Code foresees up to 2 years of correctional labor or up to 2 years in prison for those who refuse from military service due to beliefs.
