AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon in Dushanbe as part of his official visit, the Akorda press service reports.
The parties discussed bilateral strategic partnership, strengthening political dialogue, building trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Presidents discussed ensuring security and stability in Central Asia and cooperation within international structures.
Tokayev said Kazakhstan attaches great importance to the visit, because the agenda consists of pressing issues concerning development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation.
"Last year, trade reached $800 million despite the pandemic. This speaks for the great reserves in trade and economic sphere. We are ready to listen to your proposals in this regard," said the president of Kazakhstan.
Tokayev also spoke on the international agenda, noting that the two countries successfully cooperate within the UN, the SCO, and the OSCE.
"Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are, without any exaggeration, brotherly states," Tokayev added.
Rahmon for his part noted that Tajik-Kazakh relations today are developing dynamically in all spheres. "Kazakhstan is second biggest trade and economic partner of Tajikistan. Spiritual, cultural and humanitarian cooperation and cooperation in the field of security are being strengthened. Our countries successfully develop cooperation within the CIS, SCO, CSTO and CICA," Rahmon said.
Rahmon expressed readiness to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
