Kyrgyz and Russian security forces foil trafficking in more than 810 kilograms of heroin from Asia to the Netherlands

AKIPRESS.COM - Security forces of Kyrgyzstan and Russia foiled large-scale heroin smuggling from Golden Crescent region of South Asia (Afghanistan, Iran, and Pakistan) to the Netherlands through the territory of Eurasian Economic Union states, said the Russian Federal Customs Service on May 20.
International criminal group intended smuggling of heroin in 200 kg shipments to the Netherlands.
"However, the uncovering of the logistics scheme allowed to prevent the first four shipments," the statement said.
More than 810 kg of heroin was arrested.
The perpetrators, accomplices and organizers of the smuggling channel grouping foreign nationals, including citizens of the European Union, were detained.
Two criminal probes into large-scale drug trafficking were launched. At sentencing, the suspect might face terms up to life imprisonment.
Earlier, a truck with 440 kilograms of heroin was detained in the Osh region.
