EU, Uzbekistan plan to sign cooperation agreement before year-end

AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov received EU Specia Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian.
The current bilateral cooperation and its prospects in commercial, economic, investment, financial, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union were considered.
The agreement was reached on ramped up efforts to boost trade between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
The EU is ready to provide assistance in raising awareness about GSP+ status advantages among exporters, line agencies, Ambassador Burian said.
The sides will also continue cooperation on Uzbekistan's WTO accession. Bilateral talks on access to markets of goods and services, support of agriculture will be held held in the nearest time.
The sides also agreed to intensify talks on the draft of Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the purpose of its approval before the end of this year.
A new agreement will replace the current agreement of July 1, 1999.
