AKIPRESS.COM - "Kumtor used to have 3 Boards of Directors funded by the state, and there were different people whose activities there were unclear," said MP Akylbek Kemelov at the Parliament session. They were paid $250,000 a year, according to the MP. "It is unclear what they were paid for, they didn't protect the interests of the state, they didn't work in the interests of the state. What were they getting that much of a salary for?" he asked.
The MP said there are good specialists in the Issyk-Kul mining industry and specialists in gold mining. "I suggest them to be on the board of directors. They are willing to work for $10,000 a year instead of $250,000. The rest of the money can be used to address local issues," he added.
