Uzbekistan to borrow $200m from international financial institutions for COVID-19 response

AKIPRESS.COM - Uzbekistan will borrow $100 million from the Asian Development Bank for 40 years and $100 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank for 30 years for COVID-19 response according to the resolution signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on May 27. 1,000 ambulances and medical support vehicles will be purchased for $35 million.
475 healthcare organizations will be repaired.
The scale of COVID-19 testing will be expanded.
All loans will be repaid from the public fund.
It was announced earlier the total public debt of Uzbekistan grew for $5.5 billion in 2020 and reached $23.3 billion by January 1, 2021, which is 40.4% of the country's GDP.
