Ex-Prime Minister Omurbek Bananov detained on corruption charges in connection with Kumtor probe

AKIPRESS.COM - Ex-Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov has been detained on charges with corruption concerning Kumtor project, the State National Security Committee said on May 31. The General Prosecutor's Office earlier launched a criminal probe into corruption in signing agreements on Kumtor project during 1999-2019.
The interdepartmental investigative group is investigating the facts of corruption at different stages of implementation of the project on Kumtor mine development.
Ex-PM Babanov was detained on May 31 on suspicion of corruption on the basis of evidence obtained during investigation, the National Security Committee said.
