AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan's overall exports decreased by 1.6% in 2020 despite 18.5% growth in gold exports (higher prices, but less volume), said Gulkayir Tentieva, Senior Economist at the Asian Development Bank's Resident Mission.
Tobacco exports decreased by 42.0%, textiles by 41.0%, vegetables by 12.5%.
Imports decreased by 26.2%, textile imports decreased by 56.0%, machinery and equipment by 37%, and fuel products by 23.3%.
Big numbers of migrants returned home, which caused the remittance decline at first. But later, remittances rebounded after the recovery of jobs overseas and rose 2%.
