Recently arrested politicians have no complaints: National Torture Prevention Center

AKIPRESS.COM - Director of the National Torture Prevention Center Bakyt Rysbekov visited recently detained politicians, including MPs Asylbek Jeenbekov, Torobay Zulpukarov, former MP Talantbek Uzakbaev, former Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov, ex-mayor Aziz Surakmatov, ex-MP Iskhak Pirmatov. None of them complained about their health or detention condition in the temporary detention facility.
MPs Asylbek Jeenbekov and Torobai Zulpukarov were arrested for 2 months according to the ruling of the Pervomay district court on May 31 on suspicion of corruption within the Kumtor-linked probe. The State National Security Committee said the investigation into facts of corruption at different stages of implementation of the project on Kumtor mine development is ongoing.
Ex-MPs Iskhak Pirmatov and Talantbek Uzakbaev were detained on May 31 in connection with the Kumtor probe.
Ex-Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov was detained on corruption charges concerning Kumtor project on May 31.
Ex-Bishkek city mayor Aziz Surakmatov was detained on May 26 on suspicion of corruption and illegal wealth.
