AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstani athlete Zhaksylyk Mamyrbekuly finished first in the 65+ age category at the SCO Issyk-Kul International Marathon held on May 15.
However, after inspection it was found out that the Kazakhstani athlete during the run called for doctors because of an injury, received medical assistance, and drove by ambulance almost to the finish line. He was disqualified.
The Run the Silk Road - Shanghai Cooperation Organization marathon was held on May 15 in Cholpon-Ata town with the participation of more than 3,000 athletes from 35 countries.
The awards ceremony took place on June 3. Retired Major-General of Police Kemelbek Kiyazov, who ran 42.2 kilometers in 4:13:33 took first place, second place went to Mendibek Sydykov, and the third to Tirdumamat Abdazov.
