AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan expressed protest against illegal actions of Tajikistan after containers were put up and a significant amount of military personnel and military vehicles were deployed in undelimited border zone in Unzhu-Bulak area of Chon Alay district of Osh region.
"The Tajik side breached all earlier reached agreements at the level of governmental delegations for delimitation and demarcation of Kyrgyz-Tajik border, protocols of the working meeting of representatives of the Defense Ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan of May 1 and undertakes provocative actions that will inevitably lead to escalation of situation in border areas of two countries," the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said in a statement.
"The given actions of the Tajik side cast doubts on numerous statements and affirmations of Ambassador of Tajikistan Nazirmad Alizoda that Tajikistan intends to address post-conflict situation between the countries in a peaceful manner, which were voiced at the meeting with the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan on May 31, but also confirm opinion of most international partners and experts about territory claims of Tajikistan on land belonging to Kyrgyzstan according to all available materials," the Foreign Ministry stated.
"Despite reached agreements of May 1, representatives of the Border Troops of Tajikistan do not answer calls and this way avoid the opportunity to hold talks for de-escalation of tension. The Kyrgyz side demands from the Tajik side to dismantle put up containers, to remove military personnel and vehicles to their permanent duty stations, and to return to discussion of delimitation and demarcation of Kyrgyz-Tajik border issues in the framework of upcoming meetings of governmental delegations of the countries," the Foreign Ministry said.
