AKIPRESS.COM - Pervomai district court of Bishkek extended the arrest of former head of the President's Administration Farid Niyazov on June 7. He will remain in pre-trial detention facility #1 until August 10.
According to his lawyer Zamir Jooshev, Niyazov has health problems, he suffered several heart attacks in the detention center. "Probably, someone is taking revenge from the officials," the lawyer said.
Niyazov was detained on August 8, 2019, in the village of Koi-Tash on suspicion of organizing mass riots and hostage-taking. After the October 2020 events, he was released along with other supporters of former President Almazbek Atambayev. However, on October 10, Niyazov was detained again and taken to remand prison #1 on suspicion of organizing the mass riots that took place in Ala-Too square on October 9, 2020.
