AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan will ban export of carrots and potatoes next week, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture Azamat Mukashev at a meeting at the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation.
Deputy Minister noted that the Ministry of Agriculture is taking measures to ensure that farmers can fully grow agricultural products.
The arrival of early carrots will begin in 2-3 weeks.
Sellers in Karakol town, Issyk-Kul region said 1 kg of carrot costs 100 soms. Usually the highest price for carrots was 25 soms annually during this period. The reason for the price increase is the closed borders with other countries, according to sellers.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilich Marsbek uulu linked the carrot price surge in Kyrgyzstan to its increased export to Kazakhstan and Russia.
