17 servicemen of Afghan government forces retreat to Tajikistan

AKIPRESS.COM - 17 servicemen of Afghan government forces under attack of Taliban fighters retreated to Tajikistan on Sunday, the Border Troops of the State National Security Committee of Tajikistan said. Taliban fighters attacked the border post in Chukchuk area of Balkh Province. The clashes lasted until the noon.
"17 servicemen of the government forces of Afghanistan had to cross the border into Tajikistan. Tajik border guards allowed Afghan military personnel to enter the territory of Tajikistan," said the report.
The situation on the border with Afghanistan remains tense. Clashes between Taliban fighters and government forces of Afghanistan continue.
This is the second time when Afghan military personnel cross the border into Tajikistan. 134 Afghan servicemen retreated to the territory of Tajikistan on June 22. Four of them were wounded.
The Tajik authorities held consultations with the authorities of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan amid exacerbation of the situation in Afghanistan for the past 2 weeks.
Tajikistan reinforced protection of the border with Afghanistan.
