AKIPRESS.COM - The Embassy of China in Kyrgyzstan has commented on the situation with Sinopharm coronavirus vaccines donated to Kyrgyzstan.
The second batch of 150,000 doses of coronavirus vaccines was ready for transportation on June 20, but vaccines still remain at Beijing airport waiting for plane from UNICEF.
"In accordance with the agreements, the Kyrgyz side s handles transportation of vaccines. The Kyrgyz side said the talks on transportation of vaccines from China to Kyrgyzstan are ongoing with UNICEF. The Chinese side was not provided exact information on the plane," the Chinese Embassy said.
The first batch of 150,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine was handed over by China in March 2021. It was announced in early May that China donated anotehr 150,000 doses of vaccines to Kyrgyzstan.
The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan said on May 26 delivery of 150,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines is expected.
The delivery dates were postponsed several times:
- on May 31, the Deputy Health Minister said vaccines will arrive in early June;
- on June 9 the Deputy Health Minister said vaccines will arrive before June 16;
- on June 15 the National Immunization Center said vaccines will arrive before June 20;
- on June 19 the Health Minister said vaccines will arrive on June 20;
- on June 23 the National Immunization Center said vaccines will be airlifted before end of June.
