Issyk-Kul farmers may lose crops due to irrigation water problems

AKIPRESS.COM - Agricultural land in Issyk-Kul region must be provided with irrigation water within 15 days, otherwise, the crops will be wasted, the region's administration said.
It is necessary to take measures in the near future in order to save agricultural land from drought. On June 28, the region's administration had a meeting to discuss the situation. Instructions were given to solve problems with irrigation water in the near future. One of the directions of work is to restore wells that can provide irrigation water to agricultural land. In addition, relevant agencies were instructed to distribute water fairly among the farmers.
Governor Mirbek Kojoev said water specialists will head to the fields. The regional department of agrarian development informed that monitoring of lands where crops may be on the verge of drying up is underway.
