ADB provides over 2.5 million personal protective items to Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - The Asian Development Bank provided more than 2.5 million personal protective items for medical workers in Kyrgyzstan amid ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The supplies and resources were provided from ADB's grant component of Emergency COVID-19 Response Project approved in June 2020.
These supplies included 300,000 FFP2 masks, 300,000 protective coveralls, 1,200,000 gloves, 120,000 protective set (gown, cap, IIR masks, overshoes) 600,000 high overshoes, 5,000 goggles.
Protective gear was distributed among COVID-19 departments at 81 hospitals in Chui, Issyk-Kul, Naryn, Talas, Osh, Jalal-Abad, Batken regions.
In addition to medical supplies, a $20 million financing package will help improve conditions in hospitals used as COVID-19 centers. These hospitals will receive additional beds for intensive care, ambulances, necessary medical supplies.
In May 2020, the Asian Development Bank approved a package of $50 million loan and grant financing to assist the government of Kyrgyzstan to contain coronavirus pandemic, to ensure social protection of vulnerable groups of population.
